The Perfect Theme!

Aaah! I sigh in contentment!

Thanks to Northern Web Coders (site loads slowly and is half-German, half-English), I have a theme that is PERFECT for this site! There was a bit of panic, because a database error marred the header, but I found the fix and my sweetie (who is a wonderful, skillful, fabulous person) performed it. He was the one to install it for me in the first place. Isn’t it great? Isn’t HE great? :)

I am very happy with the layout of this software and this theme in particular. The only thing I’m not completely happy with is that it doesn’t indent sub-categories for blog entries (for instance, “movies” is a sub-category of “reviews”). The way it’s set up now makes it look like there are two separate entries, when there is only one under both categories. But the quantity of posts next to the categories is a good tradeoff! I like that a lot. I bet if I knew more about PHP I could make that indent possible. But I know nothing, so I’ll leave it alone for now.

I’m just so happy about this! :)

I know nothing of Wordpress, but would it be possible to add a CSS rule for subcategories to indent them? You would need to add an extra bit of information to the links that are subcategories in the template, but I can’t imagine it being too big of an undertaking.

Like I said, I know nothing of Wordpress, though. :-P

Also, your “Submit” button appears to be in German.

Hahaha! Awesome! I didn’t even notice! I would think about changing it, except it looks like it says “abs chicken”, which makes me laugh. :)

I kind of figured it would be a minor tweak of CSS, except I think this particular theme was done in PHP, which is probably almost the same (?), but I really know absolutely nothing. I’m also not really sure how to edit it. Sig could figure it out, if I gave it to him to look at. But it’s not so big a deal that I can’t just leave it that way.

I really like the new theme. =)

PHP controls the content; CSS controls the display thereof. And while your clever husband could probably figure it out eventually, a smarter bet would be to find someone clever with CSS and/or WordPress, since your husband will probably destroy the entire thing several times over in the process of “figuring it out.”

    I shall bug Scott, perhaps.

No, I’ve decided it’s just fine, because I can actually have a post categorized under “movies” that is not a review. Not sure if I’ll ever have a post that is about a movie that is NOT under review (unless I’m talking about a preview, I guess), but the option is there. I hadn’t thought of it that way before.

It’s fine the way it is. :)
