Urine gone! Petastic FTW!
Yet another review post dealing with cat whiz. I live such an exciting life.
After dumping the supposedly miraculous product, Urine Gone, liberally over the cat spots on my bedroom floor, I discovered two things: 1) Urine Gone does not work, and 2) Urine Gone has a scent that becomes quite cloying over time, and because it does not actually work, the cat smell never goes away, either. My room was smelling like urine and Urine Gone, and it was not pleasant.
My friend who owns a pet store also owns a large number of cats, herself. She has a problem with one of her cats peeing everywhere, so a few weeks ago she was singing the praises of this other product called Petastic, which has worked wonders for her. Since I was going to the Bainbridge ferry the other day, I stopped by her store and picked up a couple bottles (one for me and one for my friend who has dogs who pee everywhere). When I got it home, I poured it over the spots on the carpet, and the smell was instantly gone! It’s still gone, and there is no product smell, either. I also bought a relatively inexpensive carpet steamer (a small one, because I only need a spot treater) and will be using that later to finish the job.
I will have to use it to wash the Litter Robot later, because I used a form of litter that has a scent I can’t stand, especially when mixed with cats. For the record, the best clay clumping litter I have ever used (and I’ve used a LOT of different brands) is Wal-Mart’s Special Kitty. Even their regular clay litter is good. However, one day they were out of Special Kitty, so I used Scoop Away. Ugh. The smell is atrocious.
ANYway, the Litter Robot is working fantastically. I do have to empty it two or more times a week, because I have two larger cats with fast-acting digestive systems, who use the box frequently during the day. But it’s SO much better than scooping, I can’t even describe. It’s totally worth every penny.
So is Petastic. I HIGHLY recommend that.

We get the multi-cat version of Scoop Away, which does not have that awful awful awful “Fresh” scent found in the variety carried at Wal-Mart.
I will take a look at Special Kitty when we need litter. Last time we got Tidy Cat and it wasn’t very tidy. :-/

I’ve not had much luck with Tidy Cat, either.
It’s several days later, and my room smells SOOO much better! Hooray for Petastic!

I’ve used a thing called “This WORKS!” and found that it does. Haven’t seen Petastic. I’ve also liked the Special Kitty litter at WalRusMart, but found that only ONE of the five or six WalRusMarts available to me ever seems to have it on the shelves in the 28-pound boxes, as opposed to the plastic jugs. It’s cheaper and better than anything else, just getting hard to find lately.
