Food photography

A friend of mine shared a bit of wisdom about using photography to improve the presentation, portions, quality, and joy of cooking for oneself. I thought it was a brilliant idea, and decided to embark on a photographical journey — right here on Rainy Day Sunshine!

I, personally, REALLY love food. It does kind of show itself in my squishy huggableness and round, Italian face. ;) However, I’ve never been a great cook. I’m an adequate cook, but not a great cook. I’ve been learning more over the years about throwing things together, and seem to be relatively competent when I set my mind to it, but the motivation to spend half a day laboring over a dish (not to mention the discipline to prepare in the first place) have never been a specialty of mine.

That’s why I wanted to start sharing my love of food with you, the general internet populace, and bring you along with me on my foody journey. :) I’ve started with a simple meal — because that’s what I do best — but it has all four food groups in practical proportions.

It doesn’t matter that I fashioned none of the ingredients myself, but found them either in my freezer or fridge. What matters is that they are hot and edible at the end, not to mention attractive and mouth-watering. ;)

So, without further ado, I present to you my dinner this evening: Salmon burger with veggies.

Steamed stir-fry veggies beside a salmon burger on a wheat bun, with brown mustard and a melty slab of yummy Tillamook cheddar. Veggies and Alaskan salmon burger courtesy of Costco. Yay for Costco. :)

I had to take two pictures, one with the bun on top, because the bun was just so cute I couldn’t not share it!

So there you go. :) My first food photography done all by myself! Hopefully I will be able to present more prepared-by-me foods in the future that took more work than throwing it on the stove to heat up. ;) I have a great Italian cookbook now, and I REALLY need to use it! :D

Hmm, it seems I need to brush up on how to post thumbnails. Oh well, I don’t have time for that tonight. You all don’t need those admin commands on the right, anyway. ;)
