Discovering More About Scanning Software
I knew my new printer could scan into OCR, but I had no idea what exactly that would entail — until today!
I fought a bit with some of the software that was included with the printer when I was trying to scan a document today. I discovered that I can scan a document into Text OCR (Optical Character Recognition — I think) and mess around with it using Arcsoft Photostudio! It’s almost the same as when I used Adobe Acrobat Standard and Photoshop to lay out tests at my job in Monterey, just slightly less sophisticated (or complicated, for that matter!). The only complaint I have is that the text layers all start out in the top left hand corner. I’d rather be able to select a spot and add text in it. I still might be able to do that, and just haven’t played with it enough. But what I’ve been able to do is really cool!
This is exciting!
However, I discovered that if I want to make a document legible, I can scan it in, add text layers to type in the data I need, merge the layers, then save it as a PDF! Brilliant!
